How did you feel about yourself prior to joining? What made you decide to join Bushido Fitness?
Before I joined Bushido Fitness I felt fat miserable, very unhappy, sluggish and tired. I was always shouting at family members, had no self confidence, in fact I think I was depressed.
I had joined another Bootcamp out of the area, where nobody new me. I did lose a little weight but not much.
Only when I joined the Bootcamp my daughter suggested that I try Bushido Fitness, as she knew people who were members and have had good results.
I did worry that I wouldn’t be able to do it.
After a few weeks at the other Bootcamp, my daughter asked if she could pay for my first camp at Bushido Fitness, she said “I’ll pay your first month and if its not for you then you don’t have to go back”, so I decided to try it.
Had you tried losing weight in the past? What was your experience and how did Bushido Fitness differ?
I have attended weight watchers also slimming world not forgetting the Bootcamp, as with most diet classes like the above it is I suppose like being back at school where you sat around in a circle.
The worst part is where the leader of the class asked everyone how they thought they had done and what can you do better for the next week.
I found them embarrassing, so did not stay for the whole class.
I just got weighed and came out, so I got no support or help.
Then I would stop going and put weight back on plus a bit more or should I say a lot more.
So each time I joined I was at least half a stone more than the previous time and so on.
The difference with Bushido is the great support from Amie, Ian Paul and Gemma, also from fellow members who keep you on the straight and narrow, the atmosphere is great in the bat cave, the diet is fabulous there is a great variety also a huge portion size, and I don’t feel like I’m on a diet,as with the other slimming clubs I was always thinking about food.
What were your fears and concerns prior to joining Bushido Fitness?
I thought I would be the only big person there and that everyone would be looking and talking about me. I didn’t think that I would be able to do the exercise and thinking I would show myself up also thought I was too old.
I thought it would be the same as other weight loss programmes where nobody speaks to you they, just look down there noses and make you feel uncomfortable.
What helped you overcome those fears and concerns?
My fears were that I would be judged as soon as I walked in by people whispering about me but that didn’t happen.
I was concerned that nobody would talk to me and I would hide in a corner where nobody would see me puffing and panting, as I was so unfit, but that didn’t happen either.
I shared a mat in the middle of the floor, but I noticed that none of the other members were judging what I was doing, after the warm up any concerns or fears I had, had gone and I actually enjoyed it.
What obstacles did you face along the way to losing weight?
What helped overcome them?
To be honest there weren’t a lot of obstacles because from the first session I really enjoyed it and was determined it was going to work.
I never thought I would like it but I loved it and felt great.
I think if there were any obstacles, it was the scales.
I was disappointed at first with only losing a 1lb or just a little more each week, but still now I still lose around the same.
I like the change in body shape because I can actually see the change if that makes any sense.
I even eat a lot more now than I ate before, only now I eat the right things and make healthier choices and feel a lot better for it.
How do you feel about yourself now?
I still have a long way to go but at present I feel absolutely great!
All of those things I felt before I started have gone.
I can get dressed to go out and feel great, and if I do say so myself, I look great, even if I am blowing my own trumpet.
I get passing comments all the time and that feels good too.
There are many options for someone looking to lose weight. What do you think separates Bushido Fitness from other fitness/weight loss groups?
The support is fantastic from trainers and members. The food is great the training is great, I would never ever attended any other weight loss groups because I have never had the results from any other group, Bushido all the way for me.
How have your new fitness and nutrition habits affected your life?
I am a lot happier, my fitness is 100% to what is was when I started. My diet is great, I eat more now than I did before, but a lot healthier and now make conscious decisions about what I eat.
When I joined I was a size 18 I am now a 12 to 14, I have much more confidence than I’ve had in a long time. I can go out now and go to the bar myself instead of sending someone else while I hide in a corner.
If you could go back in time and speak to your old self before Bushido Fitness, what advice would you give?
Give your head a shake girl lol, in all seriousness, probably the advice my daughter gave to me, give it a go if its not for you then you nothing lost, but I don’t think I know of anyone who doesn’t enjoy it. And I now know that I am not too old.
