How did you feel about yourself prior to joining? What made you decide to join Bushido Fitness?

Prior to joining Bushido I had gained a lot of weight in a sort space of time.

I was uncomfortable miserable and unhappy with myself.

I hated buying clothes and lived in leggings and baggy tops.

I’m 5ft and my weight had escalated to over 11 stone, I knew I needed to change my lifestyle but with two children a full time job I just didn’t know how I would fit anything else in.

A family member was attending a free Bushido taster session with some of her friends who were members and she asked me if I wanted to join them.

Although I didn’t know anyone else I agreed to go.

I have to be honest and say I hated every second of the taster session and wanted to leave because I was very breathless and so unfit.

When it finished I did feel good for having exercised and glad I had completed the session, but decided I didn’t want to sign up until I thought about it more.

I thought about nothing else for days and made a million excuses not to join.

I checked out some of the members results, they did look amazing but I was worried because I hadn’t exercised for years.

I eventually decided I would give it a go and join for 4 weeks as I had nothing to lose.

Except body fat ha.

Had you tried losing weight in the past? What was your experience and how did Bushido Fitness differ?

I had tried to lose weight in the past but always struggled with the diet.

I love food, cooking for my family and eating out with friends and family.

Being on a diet meant I was restricted and that I was eating different meals to my family, this wasn’t always possible.

I was hungry all the time and tried to be good with my food choices.

I would lose a few pounds then binge on food, meaning I would put all the weight back on and more.

This became a vicious circle and caused me stress and then resulted in more bad food choices for me and further weight gain.

Bushido differs from this because being on such a strict and restrictive diet is not really an option for me.

I follow the plan and I am able to cook the same types of meals for my family.

I don’t rule anything out of my diet and if I want to eat chocolate I can. I don’t feel hungry and with the right food choices I eat more now than I ever did.

I’m able to enjoy going out with friends and family without feeling restricted all the time.

What were your fears and concerns prior to joining Bushido Fitness?

Before joining I was worried that I wouldn’t manage to stick to the diet and as I hadn’t done any form of exercise for years I knew I was so unfit and therefore wouldn’t be able to keep up with everyone else in the group.

I was embarrassed about my weight I thought I should really try and lose some of the weight before I joined.

What helped you overcome those fears and concerns?

The sessions are aimed for all fitness levels and the exercises mean you can go at your own pace.

The instructors and group members are motivating and that helped me

I soon realised that almost everyone in the group was or had been in my position at one time.

What obstacles did you face along the way to losing weight?
What helped overcome them?

The journey has been amazing with lots of ups and some downs along the way.

I had expecting that it would take longer to lose weight than what it had taken me to gain it all.

I was impatient and frustrated many times because I wanted immediate results.

I’ve gone of track at times (only human) but the support from members and the instructors has played a big part in my results.

How do you feel about yourself now?

I feel so much happier, fitter, healthier and have loads of energy.

I could never have imagined being fitter and leaner in my 40s than I was in my 20s.

There are many options for someone looking to lose weight. What do you think separates Bushido Fitness from other fitness/weight loss groups?

The package a whole separates Bushido fitness from other fitness or weight loss groups.

The nutrition plan is realistic and easy to follow.

The members and support from the instructors are motivating.

The monthly before and after pictures and the weekly weigh in keeps me on track.

The sessions are different each month meaning we don’t repeat the same session in one camp and therefore it’s varies and not repetitive.

The private page is available for questions and continued support, help and advice, that you wouldn’t get at a regular gym or weight loss group.

How have your new fitness and nutrition habits affected your life?

The fitness and nutrition habits are a way of life for me now.

I’m definitely happier and more confident.

I love going out with friends and family.

Clothes shopping is no longer a chore and love treating myself to new clothes and buying things that actually feel and look nice

My family sees what I eat and also enjoy eating healthy food so this makes it easier for me.

My daughter enjoys exercise too and this is something we can share together.

I’ve also made some lovely friends at Bushido who I socialise with all the time

If you could go back in time and speak to your old self before Bushido Fitness, what advice would you give?

If I could go back in time I wish I had tried exercise sooner.

I actually enjoy exercise and keeping fit but had never fully stuck to anything in the past.
